Point of Care Ultrasound Course

Oman Medical Specialty Board organized a workshop which is the Point of Care Ultrasound Course from 7 March to 10 March 2010 at the Medical Simulation Center. OMSB hosted the following experts to conduct the workshop: Dr. Bob Jarman , Dr. Rajat Gangahar, Dr. Jim Connolly and Mr. Simon Richards. All of them came all the way from Teeside Universtiy, Middlesbrough, UK. They were able to meet H.E. Dr Abdullah Al Futaisi, Executive President of OMSB and Professor Naila Al Lamki, Vice President of Academic Affairs last 6 March 2010. During the meeting they discussed some matters like sending OMSB residents for training also in UK. The workshop included some lectures on Knobs and Orientation, Vascular Access, Heart in Cardiac Arrest, Echo and Vascular Access and other topics relative to Point of Care Ultrasound in Emergency Medicine. Practical demonstrations were experienced by the participants as some ultrasound machines were used during the entire course. The workshop aimed to let the participants understand the basic principles of ultrasound and acquire good clinical governance and safety for ultrasound users.

Emergency Medicine in GCC Traffic Week

Emergency Medicine Participated in the Exhibition which is organized by the Royal Police of Oman by presenting to the public some of the measurements and model to prevent injuries Due to Motor Vehicle Collision and Accidents. The exhibition started from Sunday 14/3/2010 at Muscat City Center and will lasts for 4 Days. Our role in the preventive plan and the management of these injuries once occurred was recognized and appreciated. All are invited to participate and visit the section.
